Radford University has deployed a new residential network across 44 residential buildings, covering 2,965 beds. The Virginia university selected Boldyn Networks to design, build and operate the service through its ResNet residential network offering. The project was completed in a record 25 days and provides students with 24/7/365 support. The network is intended to give students consistent connectivity in every on-campus housing location, regardless of how many devices they bring to campus.
One Network Across Campus
Radford chose to modernize its residential network across all buildings at once rather than complete upgrades in phases. That approach means a student’s connection should not depend on which residence hall they live in.
The deployment was delivered through collaboration between Boldyn’s project management, installation and network engineering teams. Students living in university housing can use the network for the devices they bring to campus.
Five Years Of Support
The agreement includes hardware lifecycle management and a known cost to serve and support the residence halls over the next five years. It also shifts day-to-day network operations to Boldyn.
For Radford’s IT organization, the arrangement allows staff to focus on strategic initiatives including complex ERP and LMS transitions and the rollout of AI capabilities across campus. More details are available in Boldyn’s announcement.
What It Means For Students
The network gives nearly 3,000 students access to consistent residential connectivity and support at any time of day. For students studying and living on campus, the upgrade is designed to make their residence hall connection feel more like their connection at home.
