About Academic Writing Club

Academic Writing Club is for students, trainees, apprentices and interns who want to study well, write well and find their next step, and for the teachers, tutors, trainers and employers who help them get there.

Why Academic Writing Club exists

Much of what decides how a course, a degree or an apprenticeship goes happens away from the classroom: the week spent turning notes into an essay plan, the evening before a deadline, the search for a reference that fits the argument, the application for a first placement. Advice for those moments is everywhere, and a good share of it is trying to sell something. We keep to what holds up: how to read a research paper, plan an argument, revise for an exam, write an application and use a study tool without letting it do the thinking.

Study also leads somewhere. Employers in every field run internships, apprenticeships, graduate programs and training academies, from renewable energy and engineering to the skilled trades, finance, technology and healthcare. Those openings change as quickly as tuition, student loans, admissions rules and the software on every laptop. We report them plainly, so a reader can see what they mean before the deadline or the bill arrives.

Who reads it

Undergraduates finding their feet, graduate students deep in a thesis, apprentices and trainees learning on the job, interns in their first workplace, and people returning to study after years away. Alongside them, the teachers, writing tutors, training managers and careers advisers who guide them. Some arrive for a single piece of help the night before a paper is due; others follow the news on funding, training and careers through the year.
