Peak Credit Union has committed $500,000 to support a planned 24-court pickleball complex at Lane Community College in Oregon. Its partnership with the Emerald Valley Pickleball Foundation includes a dollar-for-dollar donation match through December 31, up to $500,000. The challenge could produce up to $1 million in combined fundraising for the proposed facility. The complex would include two championship courts and 10 covered courts.

Funding For The Complex

Lane Community College contributed land near Interstate 5 for the proposed facility. Lane County voters approved $500,000 for the project, while the City of Eugene has pledged $750,000. The project team expects construction to begin after fundraising and permitting are complete.

Dr. David Tuyo II, CEO at Peak Credit Union, said:

“This investment is about creating a place where people can connect, stay active and belong. By putting $500,000 behind this project and inviting the community to join us, we have an opportunity to turn one investment into something even greater and help build an asset that can serve Lane County for generations.”

Access And Tournament Capacity

EVPF says Eugene-Springfield’s 18 dedicated public pickleball courts can have as many as 40 people waiting to play. The planned complex is intended to expand recreational access for people of all ages and abilities, while adding capacity for regional tournaments and events.

Joel Halberg, Emerald Valley Pickleball Foundation Board Member at Emerald Valley Pickleball Foundation, said:

“Through their support and the Peak Community Challenge, every donation, large or small, will be matched, doubling the impact of our community’s generosity.”

Potential Local Spending

A preliminary analysis by Travel Lane County estimates one regional tournament could generate about $2.5 million in direct business sales and indirect spending. The analysis assumes 600 overnight attendees and 1,500 day attendees, with spending across hotels, restaurants, retailers and other businesses.

Peak will serve as the proposed facility’s long-term financial services partner. The proposed name, Peak Credit Union Pickleball Complex at Lane Community College, remains subject to final approval by Lane Community College.
