Geotab has welcomed more than 1,000 interns over the past five years, with many later securing full-time roles after graduation. Its latest cohort completed placements across technical and business functions, using enterprise AI tools, telematics and data analytics on active business challenges. Students worked with GIA, Geotab Internal AI Assistant, alongside full-time teams.

AI Tools In Daily Work

Interns received training in enterprise AI platforms and were taught to evaluate data critically, apply human oversight and decide when automated tools could support business outcomes.

Klaus Boeckers, Chief People Officer at Geotab, said:

“Our goal is to give interns direct experience with modern technology tools so they can solve real business challenges. By integrating platforms like GIA into daily workflows, we help students develop practical problem-solving skills that prepare them to excel in their academic studies and technology-driven careers.”

Intern Innovation Challenge

Cross-functional student teams worked with mentors across departments in the Intern Innovation Challenge. Their projects included data dashboards, a native parts and inventory management system, and automated workflows.

Rohan Rajanwal, Product Coordinator Intern at Geotab, said:

“Participating in the Intern Innovation Challenge pushed me to be as creative as possible while building a high-impact, functional solution. It also showed me how quickly I could build and test ideas by leveraging AI tools such as GIA, which saves a significant amount of time when incorporating complex ideas, like our AI photo analyzer for loose/unlabelled parts. Receiving the right guidance from team leaders helped us identify real gaps we could fill, which validated our idea and made us truly feel like we were making an impact with what we built”.

Career Preparation Through Placement

By pairing structured learning with real-world responsibilities, the program serves as a talent engine for both emerging professionals and Geotab. Departing interns leave with direct experience applying AI tools, telematics and data analytics to active business challenges.
