By Academic Writing Club Newsroom

Preply will hold its fifth annual Preply Online Teaching Conference online on Thursday, October 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. CET. The free event is open to Preply tutors with approved accounts and will include parallel sessions, live networking, and programming in English, Spanish, and Italian. More than 150,000 tutors teaching over 90 languages use the marketplace, while last year’s conference drew more than 15,000 attendees, up from about 600 in 2022. Partners including Pearson will take part in an exhibitor hall for tutors.
Two Tracks For Tutors
The conference will offer Start Together for tutors new to Preply and Grow Together for experienced tutors. More than 20 tutors will lead sessions on teaching techniques and approaches, alongside industry sessions and a keynote from Mark Richard, co-author of Oxford Teachers’ Academy’s Online One-to-One Tutoring course.
Sessions will include subtitles in more than 40 languages. The Tutor Café will provide a networking space, while the exhibitor hall will connect attendees with partners including Modern English Teacher, Difusión, Fluentize, Pearson, Class Builder, LessonStream, Trinity College London, and ESL Brains.
Tutor Community Event
The conference is exclusive to Preply tutors and is designed for tutors at different points in their work on the platform. Registration is available to all Preply tutors with an approved account.
Francine Pinto, VP of Customer Experience at Preply, said:
“The Preply Online Teaching Conference has become a special moment each year for our global tutor community to come together, exchange ideas and learn from one another. What makes this event so valuable is the opportunity to combine perspectives from industry experts, the Preply team and the firsthand experience of tutors who are teaching every day. As the conference continues to grow, our goal is to give tutors practical ideas, new connections and inspiration they can take back into their classrooms and use to create even better learning experiences for their students.”
Learning Progress Research
The event follows findings from a recent study with Leanlab Education. After switching from self-directed learning to working with a Preply tutor, 98% of learners said they felt more supported, while nine in 10 described their learning experience as more personalized.
